Switch to a Creator or Business Profile
Instagram allows you to add a Paid Partnership label only on Creator or Business accounts. If you already have a creator or business account, then I suggest you skip to the next section where we’ve shared how to add Paid Partnership label to posts and stories. But If you don’t, let’s learn how to switch to a creator or a business account first.
- Open Instagram and navigate to the Profile tab by tapping on it.
- Now tap on the hamburger menu (three lines).
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap on Account.
- Scroll down and tap on Switch to professional account.
- Tap on Continue to proceed further.
- Tap and choose a profession for your business/creator account and then tap on Done.
- On the next page, choose either Creator or Business depending upon your preference and then tap on Next.
- Tap on Next to finish the process. And now your account will convert into a Creator/Business account. Note: When you post a new/old story or post or reel with Paid Partnership label and you tag a brand/person in that, they are sent an approval request as a notification. Once they accept it, only then their name will be visible on your story/post/reel as “Paid partnership with (username)”. Or else it will just show “Paid partnership”.
Add Paid Partnership Label to a New Story/Post/Reel
Once you’ve switched to a Creator or a Business account, adding a Paid Partnership label to a post or story on Instagram is a piece of cake. Let’s take a look at how to do so with a new post or story on Instagram.
Story
Here are the steps to add Paid Partnership label while creating a new story on Instagram.
- Open Instagram and tap on + Your story.
- Tap on a photo/video for the story.
- Now tap on the tagging icon.
- Tap to enable the toggle Add paid partnership label.
- Now tap on Add Brand Partners.
- Type the username of the person/brand whom you want to tag. Once the result appears tap on Add.
- A pop-up will appear on the screen, tap on Continue.
- Tap on Next to proceed further.
- Tap on Done.
- Again tap on Done.
- Now tap on Your story to post the story with the Paid Partnership label.
Post
Let’s take a look at the steps to add Paid Partnership label while creating a new post on Instagram.
- Open the Instagram app and tap on the New Post button.
- Tap on a photo to select it and tap on Next.
- Again tap on Next.
- Once you are done with the captions for the post, scroll down and tap Advanced Settings.
- Again scroll down and enable the toggle named Add paid partnership label.
- Tap on Add Brand Partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person whom you want to tag in your post. Once the result appears tap on Add.
- Tap on Next to proceed further.
- Tap on Done.
- Tap on the back arrow to go back to the post.
- Now tap on Share to share the post to the feed.
Reel
Here are the steps for adding Paid Partnership label to a Reel on Instagram.
- Open Instagram and navigate to the Profile tab by tapping on it.
- Tap on the + (add new) button.
- Now tap on Reel.
- Tap on the media selector to expand it.
- Tap on the video that you want to upload as a Reel.
- Tap on Add.
- Tap on Next to proceed further.
- Again tap on Next.
- Now scroll down and tap on Advanced settings.

Add Paid Partnership Label to a Previously Posted Story/Post/Reel

- Tap on Add paid partnership label.
- Tap and enable the toggle Add paid partnership label.
- Tap on Brand partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person whom you want to tag in the story. Once the result appears tap on Add.
- Tap on Next.
- Now tap on Done and the story will now reflect the paid partnership label.
Post
Here are the steps to add Paid Partnership label to an old post on Instagram.
- Open Instagram and navigate to the Profile tab by tapping on it.
- Tap on the post to which you want to add the paid partnership label.
- Once the post opens, tap on the kebab menu (three dots) near the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap on Edit.
- On the post editor page, tap on Add Paid Partnership Label just below your username.
- Enable the Add paid partnership label toggle by tapping on it.
- Tap on Brand partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person and once the result appears tap on Add.
- Tap on Next to proceed further.
- Tap on Done and the post will now show Paid Partnership label to you and your audience.
Reel
Let’s take a look at the steps on how to add Paid Partnership label to an old reel.
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the Reel to which you want to add the label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Now tap on Edit.
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.

Remove Paid Partnership Label From a Story/Post/Reel
If you’ve added Paid Partnership label to the wrong post or story, don’t worry. We all have been there and done that. Hence, Instagram allows you to remove Paid Partnership from unwanted posts or stories. Let’s take a look at how to do so.
Story
There are types of Paid Partnership label removal. The first one is a partial method, doing that will just remove the brand partner from your story. It will still show Paid partnership in the story but there won’t be any brand associated with that.
Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)
Let’s take a look at the steps of the first method.
- Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
- Once the story is open tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- On the Edit info page, tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them.
- Tap on Done, and now your story will only show Paid partnership.
Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)
The second method is straightforward. Unlike the previous method, this method completely removes the Paid Partnership label from your story. Let’s take a look at the steps to do so.
- Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots) near the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- Tap and turn the toggle Add paid partnership label off.
- Tap on Done. And now the paid partnership won’t show on your Instagram story.
Post
Just like stories, there are also two methods for removing Paid Partnership label from a post. The first method that I’m going to share with you guys, is extremely helpful if you just want to remove the brand partner from the label, not the whole label.
Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)
Here are the steps for the first method to do so.
- Open Instagram and navigate to the Profile tab by tapping on it.
- Tap on the post on which you want to edit the Paid Partnership label to open it.
- Now tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on the Paid partnership label just below your username.
- Tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them from the paid partnership label.
- Tap on Done.
- Again tap on Done to save the post with the edited Paid Partnership label. Now the post will only show a Paid partnership without a brand name.
Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)
Let’s take a look at the steps to completely remove the Paid Partnership label from a post on Instagram.
- Open Instagram and tap on the Profile tab.
- Tap on the post from which you want to remove the Paid Partnership label.
- Once the post opens, tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Now tap on Paid partnership label just below your username.
- Turn the toggle Add paid partnership label off.
- Now tap on Done.
- Again tap on Done, and the Paid Partnership label will be removed from the post.
Reel
Here are the steps to remove Paid Partnership label from a Reel.
- Open Instagram and navigate to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the Reel from which you want to remove the Paid Partnership label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Now tap on Edit.
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.

Accept/Approve Someone’s Paid Partnership Request
Whenever you add someone as a brand partner in a post or story, they get a request on their side. Once they accept Paid Partnership request, only then your post or story will reflect “Paid partnership with (username)”. Or else it will just show “Paid partnership” on that post or story. In case, you receive such a request, let’s take a look at how to accept someone’s Paid Partnership request. Or if you’ve added someone as a brand partner to your post or story and they are having trouble accepting your request, just share this post with them. Now, let’s take a look at the steps to do so.
- Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon. Note: Instagram keeps changing the placement of buttons and icons. For some people, notifications will be in the bottom tab bar and for others, they will be near the DMs icon.
- Tap on Monetisation & shops.
- Tap on the request approval notification.
- Tap on Approve and the post or story will be approved. And it will show your account’s name on the Paid Partnership label.
Remove Yourself From Someone’s Paid Partnership Label
If you don’t want to associate with a previously tagged Paid Partnership post or story, Instagram also allows you to remove yourself from such posts or stories. Let’s take a look at how to do so. Note 1: Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t have a privacy option yet that restricts who can tag you via Paid Partnership label on Instagram. If someone is spamming you or bothering you can block them on Instagram for good.
- Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon. Note 2: Instagram keeps changing the placement of many buttons and icons. For some people, notifications will be in the bottom tab bar and for others, they will be near the DMs icon.
- Tap on Monetisation & shops.
- Tap on the notification.
- The story/post will open, tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Remove me from paid partnership label.
- A pop-up will appear on the screen, tap on Remove. And you won’t be associated with that post or story anymore. Note 3: Paid Partnership label allows you to see the insights of the story or post in which you are tagged in. Once you remove yourself, you won’t be able to check the insights of that post or story. Hence, proceed with caution.
