At the time of writing, a new rather strange bug has popped up all of a sudden. Many users have voiced their concern that they are unable to upload or post their Instagram story directly from the camera. Even on swiping right from their feed, the camera doesn’t appear. As a result, they are now left with no choice but to take the longer route of first taking the photo via the camera app and then uploading it to their story via the camera roll.
This is in stark contrast to the earlier bug-free environment where you could directly bring up the camera from within the app, take the picture, and then upload it to your story from within the app itself. Fix: Cannot Upload Instagram Story Directly from the Camera
To resolve this bug, you just need to long-press on the Instagram app icon and then select Camera. This way you will be directly taken to Instagram’s camera and you could then directly click and upload photos without any delay. While this might not be the most viable approach, but as of now, this is the only way through which you could fix the issue of being unable to upload/post an Instagram story directly via camera.
As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workaround is your best bet.
